For Me, Teaching is MORE THAN a Career,
Hello Positive Ones!
I am Camilla, a Jamaican, a lover of God Almighty, my family, my culture, my people, and life. I honestly feel like I’ve been studying and going to school for too many years now. I’m afraid that by the time I’m ready to begin my career, I might actually be at the age of retirement, LOL! But anyways, I do have some work experience under my belt, so not to worry. I’m a teacher at heart and I also possess a Bachelor of Education degree in Business and Computer Studies. I taught at the Secondary level for approximately three years. In my late 20s I completed a second degree at the Masters level and majored in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration. This makes me a student affairs administrator, that means I help to provide services and support for students that drives learning outside of the classroom environment in institutions of higher education. I am passionate about support services for students success! I just love to work with people and thoroughly enjoy assisting them in their personal and professional development.
Of late, I’ve been enjoying different cultures and the diversity of life. We are really one big family! I have resided in a few countries and I realized that we humans, are more similar than different. The temperament and emotions of people remain the same wherever I go. As I change my places of residence, I realize that there i am a disciple of Jesus Christ – a Christian. I’m currently studying Communication, Culture, and Journalism and I hope to use this training wisely. Maybe I could become an educational journalist or venture into the public relations field. Life is interestingly beautiful and I’m realizing that it isn’t as complicated as we make or perceive it to be. Let’s begin this amazing journey with me on Y.F.S.N.
It’s a CALLING

My cabbage patch dolls were my first students. They were obedient and studious, they listened intently followed instructions well. Little did my developing brain know that this ‘teaching practicum’ was not a representation of the real industry. Teaching is hard work!

I was too passionate about this teaching thing. It seemed inevitable that I would become a teacher. Apparently, it was my calling; I loved the vocation before I even entered the field. What was it that motivated this love, I thought? Did it run in my family lineage? My grandmother, Josephine, was as renown teacher in Jamaica during her days. She was loved and revered by many. Was I following in her footsteps?

Realistically speaking, teachers are required to have an unconditional love for those they teach.
