Choosing a career can be difficult, however, with the right tools and resources, you can maneuver this process and effectively navigate your way to success. The first thing you want to do is pray. It sounds cliched and ridiculous, but believe me, it always works. I have never taken my car to a shoemaker; I always go to a reputable car dealer who has trained Mechanics. When ever I have excruciating pains in body, I do not go to the fisherman, I go to the Doctor. Why? They are specialists in their fields.  When you have any questions concerning you, go to you Maker, He created you, so He has the perfect blueprint containing the architectural design for your life. He will navigate you to your destination safely and successfully.

Next thing, gently cast your FEARS aside. It’s normal to feel like you are not making the right choice at the moment. But remain calm, do not panic. Think about your unique abilities and what you can do well. Ask yourself if these skills or talents are things you would like to do as a career. Analyse yourself carefully, sometimes the things you are good at and enjoy doing the most are your hobbies and you don’t necessarily want to make a career out of them. So, ensure you invest in yourself by taking the time to think.

You might even be asking yourself, what if I become disinterested in the career, I thought I liked? And that’s a genuine question. There’s absolutely nothing wrong if what you thought you were passionate about no longer sparks your interest a few years down the road.

That’s why guidance and support are necessary. Don’t be afraid to talk things over with the RIGHT people(wise and sensible) people who can help you with the brainstorming and self-discovery process. Did you know that thousands of professionals actually switch careers at least twice in their lifetime? So, you won’t be the first person, in case that happens. The only drawback to that situation is that it might prove to be a costly venture. While you want to make the right choice from the get-go to avoid all additional costs that comes with switching careers (retraining, retooling, etc.) sometimes it’s challenging to find the right fit, which usually comes after several experiences.

Many persons changed their careers after the COVID-19 pandemic. Some persons developed new interests in different fields, for example social services, healthcare, education, and other areas. Others changed because their positions became redundant – they were no longer required for jobs; maybe new technologies replaced them or severe job cuts. Other professionals changed because their jobs became overwhelming and detrimental to their health or the family’s safety.

So, you see, people switch their jobs for various reasons. Sometimes it comes with a cost – not necessary financially – other times it don’t.

Explore thoroughly, know something about yourself, talk to wise people.
