ALWAYS CHECK YOUR NETWORKS
The worst thing that can happen in the midst of a juicy telephone conversation is to hear the prolonged beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep! It indicates that you have lost all signal! Poor connectivity, true? Get connected to reliable, accurate, and relevant sources, please.
The people you connect with are essential to your process; ensure that you talk to the right people. While it’s important to engage with a plethora of career options available to you, you may also want to visit some business places (if it is safe and possible to do so) to learn more about these options. When you visit, introduce yourself and your interest in wanting to be educated about the various existing and emerging careers in the particular industry. A tour of the facilities and an informative discussion about what the industry is like and has to offer, not only develops your understanding of what you are getting into, but it also informs and allows you to begin thinking about what you have to offer. Developing your competitive edge.
Talk you’re your schools Career Counselor or your Guidance and Counselling Department, they will assist and guide you or address any questions or inhibitions regarding your decision.
Never forget that your parents, family, and friends are excellent resources as well. They are your central unit and first point of support. So do not hesitate to consult with them for help, ok.
Use reputable online sources to gather information on different options available to you. Check out YouTube videos, visit universities online and see what they are sharing about their academic disciplines (courses of study) and what jobs you can pursue if you take those courses. This website is an excellent place to gather information on several types of careers, preparations for entry into these careers, salary ranges, testimonials from professionals in the careers, and so on.
At all times, helpers should ensure that they are doing just that – helping. Helpers should refrain from coercing you into a pathway that’s more of a personal satisfaction, fulfilling their desires or missed opportunities. Helpers should facilitate and guide you – asking appropriate questions, providing relevant assignments, and walking with you every step of the way as you conscientiously deliberate your next move.
Observe your surroundings, see what is lacking, is there a particular gap that needs to be filled?
Maybe you could assess yourself and see how you could be of help in bridging that gap!
